FAQs

FAQs

What areas do you cover?

We work right across West and North London (and sometimes further afield too). We've done many projects in Hampstead and Fulham, which is why we've given them individual pages, but we've also worked in areas as diverse as Highgate, St John's Wood, Palmers Green, Chelsea, Notting Hill, Crouch End and Richmond.

How do payments work?

Before starting, we'll agree a payment schedule that we're both happy with, staggering payments across the length of the project. All fees are agreed to in advance, and these will only change if your specifications change - what we quote is what you pay. For more details, see our estimates page

Do your quotes include materials?

We always make it clear if our quotes include materials or not. Typically, if it's specialist building materials then we will include these. If it's items where you may want to make your own choices then we will not include them (making it clear either way).  We can always advise on materials (and often get builders' discounts on materials from leading suppliers).

What qualifications do your employees and contractors have?

All our employees have professional certification and insurance. In addition, any contractors we work with such as electricians, plumbers or gas fitters will all have the appropriate industry qualifications.

Do I need to have plans drawn up?

For minor jobs, there's no need to have professional plans or to use an architect. For anything requiring planning permission, this is a prerequisite before permission will be granted. In addition, architects will usually draw up detailed calculations for what's required from us.

Do you work with listed buildings?

Yes, no problem - but remember that the rules for what you can and can't do will be strict.

Can you recommend architects and other professionals?

Yes, we have details of experienced architects, party wall surveyors, structural engineers we can recommend as required, or we will work with any professionals you prefer.

How long will the project take?

This will depend on individual projects; we will agree a time schedule in advance. We never cut corners, and, unlike some builders, we never go away halfway through a job to work on something else.

How many people will be working on-site at any one time?

Typically five to ten each day, but it will depend on the project. Our usual working hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Are parking costs/congestion charges included?

Unless otherwise specified these are not included. Please talk to us beforehand about whether you can supply parking permits.

Do you remove all waste and clear up?

Yes, we arrange for skips as required - the cost of these will be detailed on our quote. We also clear up after ourselves to all practicable extent at the end of each day, and provide protection for your furniture/furnishings.

Can I view any of your previous projects?

Yes, as a starting point, take a look at our gallery and our testimonials. If you would like to visit specific projects we've completed in the past, we can usually arrange for that as well. Just contact us

What guarantee do you offer?

We provide a full 12 month guarantee on all parts. We also offer the peace of mind of being full members of the Federation of Master Builders. For more details, see our guarantees/certification page
